Removals
Removal is sometimes required for removing aged pigment and
achieving gorgeous brows again, and is quite often the preferred
option over adding more pigment molecules to the area by colour
correction. Here are a few reasons why:
Years ago, techniques and pigments were not as advanced as
they are today. There has been significant progress in understanding the safety, longevity, and aesthetic aspects of PMU, which has led to the development of improved pigments and techniques.
Colour Correcting can sometimes be effective, however - By adding more pigment molecules to an area already filled with unwanted pigment may lead to further colour changes or uneven results.
By opting for removal, the focus is on eliminating the existing pigment particles and allowing the skin to naturally regenerate. Once the old pigment is removed, new PMU can be applied using up-to-date pigments and techniques.
If you have a strong blue/grey or salmon/red present in the brows or you have had multiple brow top-ups over the years, we can not always colour correct this, simply because there is not enough space left in the skin to hold anymore pigment. To correct blue/grey or salmon/red brows, sometimes we need to take out the old pigment to make space for new pigment.
Brow saturation is the amount of pigment still present in the skin. The level of that saturation is key to determining whether it is possible to tattoo over previous work. The shape of the previous work also is an important factor. High saturation indicates there is not enough space in the skin, so to create space for new pigment, you will need removal.
Perhaps you have an unwanted or embarrassing tattoo? Or have you had permanent makeup done previously elsewhere and the colour and/or shape is not suitable? Or has your permanent makeup become over saturated, turned a funky colour of grey, blue or red, or even migrated?
Don’t worry; you can now safely and effectively remove or lighten your unwanted tattoo.

Laser Tattoo Removal
Laser tattoo removal is highly effective in clearing pigment from
the skin. The laser energy breaks down the pigment particles into
smaller pieces, allowing the body's natural immune system to
eliminate them over a course of sessions, the pigments fade, and
the skin can regain its natural appearance. Being one of the
quickest methods of removal with the least amount of down-time,
there will always be a special place in the removal industry for
laser removal.
The Nd:YAG laser for tattoo removal is considered very versatile since 1064nm is effective for dark pigments such as black and blue, while using the 532nm, red, orange, and yellow dyes are more prompt to respond. ND stands for neodymium doped yttrium aluminium garnet, which is the medium the laser passes through.
Q-Switched mode laser produces 2 beams: one in the infrared range, which is 1064nm wavelength for darker/black tattoo removal, and a second beam of 532nm wavelength which is useful for light coloured tattoos and superficial skin lesions e.g. skin Pigmentation, Birthmarks and Thread Veins. Machines that are not Q-Switched cannot provide the desired results, as they are not powerful enough to shatter the tattoo ink particles.
How It Works?
When ND:YAG Q-Switched laser comes into contact with a tattoo the laser light is absorbed by the tattoo ink and it creates a photo acoustic shock wave that releases the heat from the tattoo and shatters into minute particles. When this response shatters the particles this is known as a photo mechanical effect. When the particles are shattered they are then able to be carried away by macrophages and leave the body through the lymphatic system.
What Types of Tattoos Can We Treat?
-
Professional Tattoos – Placed 2-3mm in the dermis and usually with colours and dense ink. Note: These tattoos can be harder to remove and may require more sessions.
-
Amateur Tattoos – Usually blue and black inks and are not as deep, ink may not be as dense making it easier to remove.
What Are The Benefits Of Laser Tattoo Removal With Us?
-
Treats blue-black tattoo
-
The most advanced technology for tattoo removal in the world today
-
Safe and hygienic
-
Reduced risk of scarring as the laser does not heat up the surrounding tissues
Without Q-Switched mode, the laser cannot produce enough high intensity energy in short pulses (nanoseconds) to shatter ink particles. This would result in less effective results -
ND:YAG Q-Switched Laser machines remain the gold standard in the market as the power produced creates the mechanical effect to shatter and remove ink particles which other lasers can’t!
Laser Consultation
Before we book for your laser tattoo removal, you will need to have a consultation and patch test. This is a 15 minute appointment where I will go through everything with you, and carry out a patch test with the laser machine in one spot. You must fill in your consultation form before attending this appointment and you must have read through all the information on my website so that you come to your appointment fully prepared.
Planning
Once I have carried out your consultation and patch test, I will book you in for 1 (or 2) laser tattoo removal appointments. The price of tattoo removal will depend on the size of the tattoo which will be decided during your initial appointment. Please ensure that you don't have a real/fake tan and avoid using sun-beds for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
Treatment
Laser treatments can take several appointments depending on many factors including skin type, immune system, health, age of the tattoo, and many more. Keep an open mind when it comes to how many sessions you may require. When booking multiple sessions, a minimum of 6 weeks is needed between appointments to allow the time for your immune system to break down the pigments and wash them out of your body, and also for your skin to fully recover.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Yes, laser tattoo removal can be uncomfortable or painful, but it's usually not as bad as getting a body tattoo itself. Many people say tattoo removal pain is tolerable. Some say it feels like a rubber band snapping against your skin, and others say it's comparable to a bad sunburn. Different people may experience different levels of pain, and areas with lots of nerve endings, like the face, hands, and rib cage, may be more sensitive. Occasionally during a laser tattoo removal treatment, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the skin’s surface to help you feel as comfortable as possible during the laser treatment.
Recovery Time
No downtime, however, the treated area may feel very tender to touch. It is important that the skin is looked after immediately after the treatment. The area must not be picked. Keep the area clean and dry. Whilst healing Aloe Vera gel can be applied or an antiseptic cream for the next 3 days. You can apply cold compresses if necessary to reduce discomfort and inflammation. No scrubbing of the area when showering or bathing and no exposure to sun without sunscreen. SPF 30 minimum is recommended.
Side Affects
White gas bubbles may rise on the skin immediately. This is a good sign that the heat has been released from the shattered ink particles. This will disappear within 20 minutes of the treatment. Pinpoint bleeding may occur very rarely, as this is due to the tiny blood vessels within the skin erupting. This also should stop within 20 minutes. Skin redness may be present and temporary swelling due to the heat and intensity of the treatment. (All these side effects are considered normal and should clear up within 20-30 minutes).
Sessions needed
Customers will see a reduction after the first treatment. However, to completely remove a tattoo depending on the ink colour and how deep it is in the skin, it could take between 6-12 sessions with intervals of 6 weeks between treatments. In some clients, more sessions may be necessary for complete removal.
Note: It is encouraged to drink plenty of water after the treatment to flush out debris.
Healing time for new tattoo
It will be minimum 6 weeks between laser sessions (depending on how many sessions you will need). And I recommend at least 10 weeks, but preferably 12 weeks after your final laser treatment knowing that your skin is healed and ready before having a new brow tattoo. The longer, the better.
As with all of our treatments we recommend reading the FAQs on our website, and get in touch with us if you have any questions or to discuss removing a tattoo!

Non-Laser Tattoo Lightening
Another method is liquid solution removal. It’s basically done with the same machine that is
used with powder/ombré brows, but instead of inserting pigment, a liquid solution is
inserted which draws the pigment out. This is a much slower process and you may need 2
to 5 sessions depending on how dark/deep the pigment is in your skin.
MM Tattoo Remover
MM Tattoo Remover is an Alkaline based removal product mixed with Glycolic acid which
is exceptional for dissolving pigment. The tattoo removal technique using MM Tattoo
Remover is a process of chemical extraction of tattoo pigment.
The technique of chemical extraction of pigment from the skin is based on the principle of
"like attracts like". With physical contact of MM Tattoo Remover and the pigment in the skin,
the pigment is gradually absorbed by this formula - a biochemical process takes place,
then MM Tattoo Remover mixed with pigment particles is pushed out of the skin. MM Tattoo Remover is also incompatible with the skin, so there is a process of rejection or removal of it from the skin. After the tattoo pigment combines with the MM Tattoo Remover, the skin tissues bring this mixture to the surface (forming a crust/scab, which will then come off naturally). As with any removal journey, it is not always a one-treatment victory.
LiFT Tattoo Lightening
Taking an age-old method of tattoo lightening/removal which works by tattooing
a salt & saline solution into the tattoo, which by way of osmosis, breaks down and
draws pigment out of the skin. Because of the mechanics of this method it can
appear darker after the first sitting, and get much better results after the second.
As with any removal journey, it is not a one-treatment victory, usually.
This method stings during treatment and can feel sore after. It will almost always
look very red immediately after and for up to 7-10 days until the scab has flaked
away. For red pigments, the skin remains red for a few more weeks before this goes away.
